Basic Obedience

None available at this time. Check out our CGC Class if you need an obedience class!

This class is designed to be fun and help build your relationship with your dog. Basic Obedience class includes practicing basic commands and house manners, i.e., polite greeting with 4 feet on the floor, stay at the door, wait at the food dish, leave it (things on floor or ground) and focusing with distractions, noise tolerance and enjoying the company of other dogs and people. Socialization with other dogs is an important part of this class.  Dogs will have an opportunity to interact with the other handlers and other dogs.

Peggy Dobbins has been teaching dog obedience since 1983, originally with Northern Virginia Community College, and then with Lake Jackson Kennels, and now with Waggin' Tails Junction. Peggy regularly attends seminars and clinics and has participated in clinics presented by Max Parris, Linda Tellington Jones, Ian Dunbar, Pat Miller, and others. Peggy has competed in obedience, tracking, field, agility, and conformation. She is an AKC evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen Test and a Therapy Dog International Evaluator. She currently shares her home with her golden retriever, Zing. In the past, her goldens have been active therapy dogs and have had children read to them at local elementary schools and libraries. Peggy served Prince William County as a First Grade teacher for 25 years and survived with lots of patience, a good sense of humor, and a love of children. All of these skills apply to teaching dogs. www.pawsitivetraining4k9.info
